Increase Fuel Economy

What type of car do you own? Have you noticed the new advertisement that is repeated again and again as to why people prefer cars?  The narrator emphasizes that the reason cars are chosen is because you can drive around in a new and expensive luxury car.  Are they just insecure or are they lacking something? Why such a push to convince us? Then up pops a Volkswagen that was built for everyone.  Yes, ‘for the people’ is the translation, but is it for you?

It appears that advertisements focus more on image, but this one does emphasize the importance of how to increase fuel economy.  The fact is that gas prices are rising and we all need some tips on how to better fuel consumption. Personally, I own a mini van.  I would just love someone to tell me how to better its fuel economy.  I wouldn’t argue with a realistic 65 miles to the gallon.  I pay around $3.10 a gallon in my town.  How bad is that? I recall gas prices at 97 cents a gallon.  No, I am not old! I’m just 30.  What is going on? My father warns me of the inevitable European price of $8 a gallon sneaking across the Atlantic.  Can you imagine?

Unfortunately many people have been lured into the SUV trend.  Yes, the gas-guzzler has returned! However, this trend is starting to peter out as gas prices rise.  The only way to increase fuel economy is to get rid of gas-guzzlers.  Do you follow the trends, say in the UK?  Gas is now at $9 a gallon.  Big car and SUV sales have plummeted.  Small cars and hybrids are the vehicles of choice.  Is the big American engine doomed to antiquity? Most car experts think so.

So taking a leaf out of the Brits’ book, should we be buying hybrids to increase this economy?  These battery-helped vehicles do lower the amount of gas being burned.  It’s simple really.  The battery charges while you burn gas and then the battery kicks in and saves you gas.  Simple as that? Yes, it is.  However, you may question the overall performance of hybrid engines.  In the past they were terrible.  In recent years this all changed.  New engines are being developed as you read.

To learn more tips on how to increase fuel economy, there is plenty to read online.  Search a little.  I know you will be surprised that traditional sports cars and utility vehicles, not to mention the dear gas-guzzlers are on their way to the museums.  Many people are making the switch to more economical smaller engined-cars.  With gas prices set to go through the roof, make the wise move.
