Bolt action vs. Semi auto .22 rifles?
Which is more likly to jam? I know the semi is, but do bolt actions jam about the same amount of time as semi's? Like take these four rifles for example, the ruger 10/22, marlin modle 60, remington 597, and marlin 925 bolt action. I hear the 597 jams like crazy, and the 10/22 isn't all that accurate, and the marlin model 60 is so reliable, and durable, but what about the bolt action 925? To me it wouldn't jam as much because it is man powered, well the action is, and it seems the durability is higher of a bolt action than semi, even for all guns, compare the 1903 springfield when it was first chambered for the 30-06 after the 30-40 craig, it was very durable, reliable, and strong, but take the m16 for example, when it came out, jams, because of so many reasons. Please post your opinions.
Hmmm ..... ? Bolt action rifles are famous for two things: Superior accuracy and greatly increased reliability.
When other actions won't work because of weather or dirt, a bolt action will. If someone is able to jam a bolt action my hat's off to him. I have no conscious memory of ever having jammed a bolt action in 50 years and umpteen million shots. (How do you do that?)
Personally, however, my own favorite 22 LR action is the lever action; but a bolt action is good too.
