Is my fuel pump bad on my 98 GMC JIMMY?

I have a 98 GMC Jimmy. It has no fire. A guy said that the fuel pump was bad because he thinks that there isn't enough pressure?? would that have anything to do with it not firing? When you turn the key on you can hear the pump kicking on.
We've replaced the timing chain, cam and crankshaft sensor, coil pack, and igintion module. there is power going to the crankshaft sensor, coil pack, and ignition module.
Please help. Thank you.

I personally don't want fire in my '99 Jimmy. It's too nice looking to burn up.

What is the actual fuel pressure? It needs to be 60-66 psi. (The pump might actually run and produce 50 psi and sound like its OK, but without correct pressure, the engine wont start.)

Next, Are you absolutely positive that the distributor is back in the correct position? I had a hell of a time getting it back in when I changed my intake gaskets. Have your mechanic use an top quality, expensive scan tool and check the computer for the electronic advance spec. (If he has a SnapOn MODIS, it'll be under "Output Controls" It should read 0 degrees. If it's at positive or negative 45 degrees, the distributor is not lined up correctly. There is NO WAY to turn the distributor to set timing, you have to use the scanner and perform the relearn procedure to reset timing.
