I had a beautiful baby boys 5 days ago....?

I am over the moon about him, so is my husband. My husband is a great guy, but somewhat forgetful I guess. He bought himself a bike a few months ago that he doesn't need and we honestly cannot afford; he also has 4 other bikes (he commutes on them). I told him he could get the last bike, which is purely for pleasure reasons, but that he better remember me when I have the baby. We spent over $500 on this bike. To date, I haven't received any type of gift. My pregnancy was very hard and I ended up having a c-section 3 weeks early. I'm a little sad that he hasn't thought of me and I'm wondering about a tactful approach in how to bring it up. I'm afraid if I don't I'm going to get mad. He spent over $100 fixing one of his bikes while I was in the hospital; he just told me he needs to go buy new ski pants for the season; and I know he's going to bring up that he needs new running shoes next (which cost about another $100). Advice please...

Congratulations - such a miracle to finally meet the baby that you've carried for nine months, love at first sight.
About your husband, well, from my own experience I didn't receive anything either. No flowers or gift of any sort. I felt sorry for myself when the other new moms at the hospital were receiving gifts and flowers from their husbands and... zilch for me. It's not my style to "ask" for a gift and I never did. I did call him on the day I was to be leaving the hospital to ask him to go and buy specific items at the grocery store. When I got home he showed me how he had stocked the fridge with everything I had asked and more. I guess that was his way of showing me that he was thinking of me and the baby.
What I am trying to say is that I'm sure your husband hasn't forgotten you, he's probably showing his love in other ways, they'll be subtle ways, so you'll have to watch for them.

Buy yourself a new outfit before he buys the new ski pants and runners.
