Best Beginner Motorcycle for a Small Commute?
I am looking into getting a motorcycle for my daily work commute (~25 miles mostly freeway)
I am a beginner motorcyclist and have looked into several motorcycles. Currently I'm looking at the Honda Rebel and the Yamaha V-Star, but the only problem I see with these bikes is that they may not be powerful enough for sustained freeway driving. How do these bikes handle on the freeway? (~65mph)
Would some more experienced bikers like to chime in and let me know their thoughts on these bikes and what other bikes might be good for me? Money is not really an option, but I'd love to keep the bill below $5k.

The little 250R Ninja will do, given it's 100 mph top end. Personally I think they're FUGLY!
Since you are looking at the little 250cc class cruisers, check out Suzuki's S40. Physically the same size as the 250's, only a 50 pound weight penalty, but the bit 652cc single will top out at 85mph and will handle 65-70 all day long -- I've done 500+ miles on the Interstate in a single day. Leatherlyke has sharp looking hard saddlebags, a bit pricy, but mine still look great after five years. Personally I have no use for a motorcycle that is over 400 pounds wet.
