4X4s has anyone else found that Chrysler servicing and dealership service in the U.K. is seriously lacking?
Chrysler Daimler Benz owner. A Jeep Cherokee/Liberty that has caused absolutely untold problems and a servicing agent that unremittingly crap. They had our car for the whole day to do a 1 & 1/2 hour job (a recall one involving the suspension with the message "no need to worry unless you go full lock on the steering and then it won't come back" and then rang at 12 midday to say that they ccouldn't find the wheel nut key (which is in the same place as last month when they changed a wheel and I imagine the same place it is in in all Jeep Cherokee/Liberty models
Have heard it is just as bad in the US. The problem is dealers make their money by selling cars, not by servicing them. Once it is sold, they really don't care. This is a problem with all makes. The best advice is to find a repair shop that does good work, is allowed to do warranty work and is reliable.
The only other thing to do is start calling the person in charge at progessively higher levels in the company to get some action. The first time they give you a run-around, do nothing, or refer you back to someone under them you have alrady talked to, call the president of the company. When we had a problem my wife called Lee Iacocca, who was the top person in the company. She got to talk to a vice-president and the problem was solved. Never be afraid to go to the top man and talk to one of his people.
