Should I buy this Camry?...Am I getting a good deal? 10 POINTS FOR BEST ANSWER!!!?
I just sold my '90 protege and am wanting a different car. The most I want to spend is $4500.00. My mechanic(and a trusted family friend) bought a few cars and one of them is a 1994 Toyota Camry. It's the luxury edition with a sunroof, spoiler, 10 disc cd changer, key chainer beeper unlocker thing and leather interior. It's in excellent condition. He's gonna sell it to me for $3900.00. Are camrys a good car? It has a v6 engine which I've been told are a lil harder on gas but is it really that horrible? Any advice would be great thanx : )
Toyota's reliability, especially for older cars, is very good. While the 6-cylinders in the newer Camries have some major issues, mid-90s models are consistently rated among the most reliable cars on the road and for several years the Camry has been the best-selling car in America. While I'm not in love with Camries myself (I liken them to kissing your sister) they have proven to be a solid value for many years. Obviously, you are buying an older car, and like any older car, the maintenance needs will be higher than say, a 2003. However, coming from a 1990 Protege, you should find the Camry to be a more rewarding car to own. The fuel economy differences will probably cost you about $20 a month, which really isn't a big deal.
