2005 Dodge Dakota subwoofer installation?
have a 2005 Dodge Dakota extended cab. I fabricated a box today that will allow two ten-inch subs two fit behind the center console. I am very much an amateur at this and i could use your help and maybe even step by step instructions. I have two 10" MTX Thunderform 550 and a 500 watt kenwood amp. I need to know what i need to hook up...where and how is an RCA cable used and basically i need help getting my head unit connected to my amp and the amp connected to the subs. Thanks a million
hi lets start with your sub and amp,, just want to let you know that never use the max wattage for matching sub and amp.. always look for the RMS rating, so you can have a better sound.
from the positive of your car's battery,, run a wire to your amplifier's power,, then rca is hooked up from the back of your head unit to the input rca of your amplifier,, next, wire the "rem" wire from your head unit to your amplifier. then ground a wire that touches any metal from your car's body,, and hooked this up on the ground of your amplifier. the last step would be the wiring from your sub to amp,, wire the positive terminal and negative terminal of your sub to the amp. and you have set it up already.
that is how you do it,, but if you really are an amateur you need to read more because i know what i said won't mean that much to you. i recommend that you refer to the diagram on the link and read more articles on how to set up amplifier and sub.
