Do portable car GPS units require membership fees to keep them updated?
Yes, some do. Garmin charges about 70 to 99 for map upgrades. Some Tom Tom models do the same. Which leads me to mention that map upgrades are not FREE.
However, there is one GPS that I have found that does not allow this. It is by a company called Newelectronx. All of their GPS's include 2010 maps and come with free map updates. Look around I am sure there are more who provide this feature.
