My car shuts of when I start it? I have a alpine MRP-M850 mono amp pushing 500 Watts RMS at 4Ohms?
My amp is a Alpine MRP-M850 mono with 1500 Watts peak. It has 4 Gauge wires and Amp puts out 500 Watts RMS at 4Ohms and I have 2 12s subs that take 500 Watts RMS 4Ohms. When I turn the car on with the amp turning on with the car it dies, but when I turn the amp off then drive the car then turn it back the amp on the car is fine! It does not shut off! I have a 1995 Eagle Talon TSi AWD Turbo. What is going on?
When your vehicle is running, the vehicle's electrical components rely on the alternator for power. The batteries purpose is to provide the vehicle with power when starting and to provide the alternator with extra power if it falls below a certain point. The vehicle is starting, so we have indication that it's probably not the battery. We do know that it dies when extra power is being used. This leads me to believe that your alternator is the problem. Your wiring is more than fine.
