The popular pickup truck roll-up tonneau cover is the least expensive. It's attached with clamps or if you use snap downs, requires some light drilling. They can be simply folded up and stored in bed or backseat.

One can purchase tonneau covers to cover differently. The least expensive cover is the roll-up canvas tonneau cover. Also there are the retractable tonneau cover, the fiberglass tonneau cover, the folding tonneau cover style and aluminum and "drop down" truck bed cover styles.

Roll-up tonneau covers are popular and cheapest in cost. Roll ups are attached with clamps and some require light drilling. In high crime areas, this may not be the best option unless you rarely carry valuables. They take up little space and can be easily rolled up and be set aside.

Retractable Tonneau Covers: Give the flexibility of having a hard tonneau cover with the options of being able to haul larger items without removing the cover from the bed. You sacrifice some space in the front of the bed for the storage canister and it may leak a little. They are a good all around value.

Fiberglass Tonneau Covers are heavy but are completely rainproof. In order to transport large objects, you would have to remove the cover and that would require some effort. You can expect the cover to weigh 150 pounds and they are usually painted to go with the color of the truck.

Folding Tonneau Covers are a good deal compared to expensive hard and retractable covers. They could leak a little, but they are durable and are more affordable that covers made of fiberglass.

Tonneau covers made of aluminum are similar to retractable as they give you the ability of hauling large objects without removing it. With aluminum tonneau covers, you have to sacrifice some of your space for the storage container at the front of the bed.

''Drop Down'' or ''Retractor Type'' truck bed covers are the newest of the truck bed covers. It gives you access to the bed of the truck without having to take off the cover. The retractor also can be locked every 12 inches if you'd like.
